Laughlin Monthly Competition Winners

The primary goal of the competition is to provide an educational opportunity regarding the visual and technical aspects of photography to PPETN members.

Any current member can submit up to 3 physical prints (8×10 inch) for competition. Each print submission fee is $5. All funds accumulated during February-November will go to the Laughlin scholarship fund. (In January, we usually do not have meetings due to Imaging USA, and December is a banquet/award month.)

Rules of the competition:

  1. Submit a digital copy of the prints you will bring to the meeting by email to Elena Ganusova ([email protected]) no later than 5 pm on the day before the PPETN meeting.
  2. Bring up to 3 prints to the meeting, and pay with cash or check at the meeting. (No credit cards accepted for competition entries.) Prints must be at meeting to be prepared and displayed by 5:45 PM. This allows everyone to vote before the meeting starts at 6 PM. Any late entries will be moved to the next month.
  3. Each image will be assigned a random number and associated with a photographer.
  4. Image guidelines: Images cannot be submitted from PPETN or TNPPA sponsored events. Images submitted cannot be on social media until after the event.
  5. Every attendee is eligible for voting at the meeting. Everyone will be given a card to record their top three choices. For example, image #41 is your 1st choice, image #23 is your second choice, and image #1 is your third choice. On the card, you will write 1-41, 2-23, 3-1. Your voting cards will be anonymous. Voting will end at 6 PM sharp.
  6. Votes will be collected and tallied.
  7. Winner will be announced at the end of the meeting.
  8. The winner of the print competition will be the Photographer of the Month! This person’s image will be published on the PPETN FB page.
  9. IMPORTANT: Each image will be critiqued at the end of the meeting. Brief critiques will be given by master photographers present at the meeting to provide instant feedback.
  10. At the end of each year (December meeting), all scores accumulated by every participating photographer will be totaled, and the overall winner will be pronounced our Photographer of the Year!
  11. Photographers winning THREE first place awards will be given the scholarship to attend one PPETN event of their choice during the next year.
