The next meeting for PPETN (Professional Photographers of Tennessee) will be Thursday, February 13 at Farmer’s Mutual of Tennessee in downtown Knoxville. The schedule is different for this meeting—because we are not meeting at a restaurant for the venue, members are encouraged to get together for dinner before the meeting in the Old City. No matter what type of people photography you do, the headshot is a key foundation to good portraiture. In his latest program, Master Photographer Gary Hughes shares his secrets to creating stunning headshots for the first time ever. Learn how to pose, light and retouch headshots for consistent and stunning results that will set you apart from the competition. Gary will also talk about shooting headshots for the entertainment business and how to generate extra income for your studio working with actors and models.

Monthly 8×10 Competition

Our “Photographer of the Year” is awarded based on your monthly print votes and pays for our annual scholarship! So make sure to bring your prints in for submitting. You might be this year’s “Photographer of the Year!”  Studio, Active, and Aspiring members may submit to the competition.  Studio and Active members may vote in the competitions.

PPETN members may bring 8×10 prints to the competition each month. The cost is $3 per print (up to four entries). Members must submit their images digitally as well, either via email, thumb drive, or disc (6:30 PM deadline).

New announcement for those who are entering the print competition: Please provide your digital image files with a minimum resolution of 2000 pixels on the longest side. This is a new request due to the upgrade of the website on PPETN.com to make the images look even better for your marketing. Thank you!

If you submit via email, you must do so in advance of the meeting to Ben Moser at ben@moservisuals.comEntries will not be accepted without a digital copy provided in advance of the competition. Points towards our annual “Photographer of the Year” will be awarded once we receive digital versions for submitting on our blog.  Any winning images will be posted on the website with back links to your website.  This will help with your SEO (search engine optimization)!

Entry fees provide funding each year for the awarding of the Michael McLaughlin Memorial Scholarship. This is a $500 scholarship members can apply for to attend any PPA approved school or training event. The criteria and application is available on the PPETN.com website and we encourage members who qualify to apply.
